Alabama is hard on batteries both ways. Summer heat – the engine bay of a parked car can get far hotter than the air – wears a battery out from the inside, and the first cold snap of winter finishes it off, because a cold engine needs more power to turn over. One customer’s battery quit in extreme cold; we were there about 20 minutes after the call. Lights left on and cars that sit for weeks do the rest.

1. We check the battery for cracks, leaks or bulging – a damaged battery should not be jumped.
2. We connect a jump pack or our truck in the right order, positive first, ground last.
3. Once the engine runs, we disconnect and let it run.
4. We tell you what we saw – a corroded terminal, a battery that won’t hold – so you know what to fix.

Modern cars are full of electronics; a careless jump can damage them. That is why we do it with the right equipment, not two cars nose to nose on a dark shoulder.
